Malware isn’t always obvious. Here are some of the warning signs we regularly see in computers brought in for repair.

Unusual Pop-Ups or Ads

If you’re seeing pop-up ads even when your browser is closed, or ads appearing on websites that don’t normally have them, that’s a red flag.

Sudden Slowdowns

Malware often runs in the background, using up system resources and causing your computer to slow down noticeably.

Programs You Didn’t Install

New toolbars, browser extensions, or programs appearing that you don’t remember installing are a common sign of malware bundled with other downloads.

Changed Browser Settings

If your homepage or default search engine has changed without you doing it, this often points to browser hijacking malware.

What to Do

Avoid clicking on unfamiliar pop-ups, and don’t enter passwords or personal details until the issue is resolved. Bring your computer in and we’ll run a full malware removal and check for any damage caused.
